Welcome to the Widdington Village Playground Appeal

The new playground

The new playground

As you read this, stage 1 of the new playground should be well and truly underway – if not already opened!  The first stage of the new playground is a completed project in its own right.  It is scheduled to be installed between 1st and 12th December - weather permitting - and includes a fantastic multi-use playbus, new junior and toddler swings, a combi-goal with basketball hoop and football goal, an activity trail, a junior climbing frame, a miniature climbing wall and some new seating, with the existing toddler climbing unit and springer also being spruced up!  So assuming all is going according to plan, our fantastic new space should be up and running for Christmas time, perfect for anyone that can brave the chilly weather!

In the New Year, just in case your kids are bored of all that lot (!) we will also find out if we have been awarded funding for a 2nd stage installation (courtesy of the Community Spaces Lottery grant), which would turn our great new playground into a truly fantastic one.  The funding, if awarded would be used to add a fully road marked trike / bike / rollerblade track with zebra crossings etc, sensory panels, meadow planting and an ever popular birdsnest swing.

Even without the 2nd stage funding, I hope you will all agree that the Playground Appeal has been a fantastic success in achieving our target of improving a great community space and offer our thanks to all who have been directly and indirectly involved in raising and providing funds.  Fingers crossed for Stage 2!
